Substrates for berry fruits

Strawberries, raspberries and blueberries – berry fruits have established themselves successfully. The substrate cultivation when cultivating berry fruits on a professional level place high demands on the substrate. These demands depend on the cultivation and the special cultivation procedure. When used in containers, boxes and when ridge planting we suggest – depending on the size of the container – course and fibrous substrates with a small amount of fines. The substrates that are mainly made out of North German white peat with a very high air capacity, guarantee a stable structure and drainage while absorbing and releasing water well. Substrates based on coir pith for cultivating strawberries provide increased harvests and are available as bulk or as growbags. Due to an especially adjusted low pH-value the availability of the nutrients and the development of fine roots are promoted.
