The Floragard Turtle Substrate is perfectly suited for nursing reptiles and in particular all species of tortoises, on a natural subsoil in outdoor enclosures and terrariums.
In cooperation with tortoise keepers experts and breeders, this special product was developped.
The Turtle Substrate is a 100 % natural and fertilizer free litter, which is succesfully used as a ground cover even in professional zoological areas. In addition to the peat , the valuable clay mineral bentonite provides an excellent basic humidity of the substrate while the pH value is adjusted precisely to the demands of the reptiles. The advantages of the Floragard fertilizer-free Turtle Substrate are the odor-free intake of urine and excrements without getting wet or producing mold. For a smooth and healthy development of young turtles, a balanced humidity level is vital.

Since no long-fibred parts are included, the animals and even small hatchlings are able to move without hindrance and use the Turtle Substrate for burrowing as a hiding place or for embeding..Mature female turtles also make use of this litter as a suitable place for oviposition.
Should in case the Turtle Substrate mix with the feed, the risk of dangerous enteric sand impaction in the intestine is minimized compared to the use of sand. Even in dry state, the dust production is very low.
For turtle species which are nursed in special terrariums, it is an additional advantage for the species-appropriate husbandry.
